Abstract

Firm knowledge of the biology of contemporary birds, on the one hand, and various methods of analysis, such as factor analysis of bird fauna lists, on the other hand, constitute the chief tools of the bird archaeozoologists in the reconstruction of the ancient environments of fossil man. By studying the differential representation of the bones in a complete bird skeleton and by the search for traces of butchery, in some cases, it is possible to answer some questions about game-bird hunting in prehistory. -English summary
