Abstract

A sophisticated computer facility is being used to study speech and develop word recognition algorithms. The approach is unique in that it does not require modified procedures for recognizing different speakers or new vocabularies. Consisting of a hierarchy of tests, the recognition process starts with the most certain speech elements and progresses to more difficult ones.
