Abstract

Assuming the hypothesis of Joel Candau about the current validity of processes of individualization and fragmentation of social memories, this article aims to analyze the correspondences between social memory and individualization in the trajectory of social actors engaged in patrimonial education projects in Brazil. To this end, it mobilizes two analytical strategies. In the first, it aims to summarize the main contours of the individualization processes in Modernity and its institutional dimensions, inspired by the sociological approach of Ulrich Beck. In the second, based on an empirical study, it aims to analyze the trajectory of an actor involved in heritage education practices, in order to examine the composition of the guidelines of his political propositions and the supposed individualization of his interventions in the municipalities where they work.
