Abstract

Nowadays, the challenges in civil engineering other than technology, construction, building materials, etc., is landslides, which are more costly for constructing a new structure and remedial works. This is because of the lack of information on the landslide-prone areas when selecting locations for development. Therefore, the review paper provides an overview of the importance of landslide susceptibility mapping and the need for effective methods to assess and predict landslide-prone areas. The multidisciplinary approach in the previous research shows the studies using appropriate research methodologies, integrating diverse data sources by GIS application, and validating the results through the assessment modelling techniques to refine and improve the accuracy and reliability of landslide susceptibility assessments. The previous research also shows a comparative analysis of different modelling techniques and approaches and their application in various regional areas, which provides general valuable insights for researchers and practitioners working in the field of landslide risk management, general reorganizing, planning of future development, and mitigation purposes.
