Abstract

Kingspan Insulation, manufacturer of phenolic and rigid urethane insulation products, produced a white paper called Pitched Roofing and the Use of Rafter Level Insulation. The publication highlights the benefits of using attic space both for the homeowner and for the house builder. The benefits of phenolic and rigid urethane insulation make them suitable solutions for insulating pitched roofs at rafter level. They provide long-term thermal performance. They provide resistance to the passage of water vapor. They are unaffected by air movement and are resistant to moisture penetration. They are lightweight materials and easy to install and they can achieve the U-value required by the Building Regulations with the minimum of insulation thicknesses.
