Abstract

5,8-Dihydroxy-3,4-dihydrocarbostyril, a key intermediate for the synthesis of β1-selective 8-acetonyloxy-5-[3-(3,4-dimethoxyphenethylamino)-2-hydroxypropoxy]-3, 4-dihydrocarbostyril hydrochloride (opc-1427) was prepared from 2,5-dimethoxyaniline. © 1981, The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan.
