Abstract

The action of sera and lymphocytes from kidney homografted dogs has been studied on tissue cultures from the second kidney of the donor.Sera from the recipient animals did not show any cytotoxic action on the cultures which, however, were highly sensitive to heterologous sera. Homologous sera did not protect the cultures against the cytopathogenic effect of infectious canine hepatitis virus (ICHV) (Da Costa Cruz phenomenon). Living lymphocytes from the recipient animals regularly produced specific cytotoxic lesions in renal cultures from the correspondent donors. These lymphocytes were not found to be cytotoxic for white cell suspensions obtained from the peritoneal fluid of the donors.
