This paper proposes a methodological framework for Open Educational Resources (OER) construction, based on the experience of the Austral University of Chile in developing this kind of resource for students of the area of health. OER arise from the need for a more sustainable and inclusive world. Nowadays, they are the basis of an innovative educational model that attempts to give an answer to the growing demand for high-quality resources for Latin American students. The proposal is based on the experience of the AUS1410 project, emphasizing collaborative and multidisciplinary aspects in its construction. The dimensions that should be considered in order to achieve high quality resources are highlighted as well as the results obtained until this moment. They show the perspectives that are now available for the democratization of open access to knowledge in the area of health in Spanish-speaking countries through OER, with high quality standards in technical and pedagogical terms.
