Abstract

We provide a brief critical assessment of the concept of Kondo insulator (semiconductor) in view of the experimental results and a simple mean-field-like picture of correlated states within the Anderson-lattice model. A brief distinction between the Kondo semiconductors and either ordinary- or magnetic- (including Mott-Hubbard) -semiconductors is discussed. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
