Abstract
Nano-/micro-plastics (NMPs, diameter <5 mm) pose significant risks to human health, ecosystems, and the global material cycle. Pyrolysis gas chromatography-mass spectrometry is an essential technique for accurate NMPs detection. This comment highlights the importance of sample preparation, pyrolysis methods, and data processing. We propose four recommendations for assay standardization: solubility-based standard curves, scalable pyrolysis, quantitative product selection, and AI-assisted data analysis, ensuring reliable data and advancing research on NMPs.
