Abstract
This study aimed to examine the effect of dhikr relaxation therapy to reduce stress on essential hypertension patients. Subjects in this study were patients with essential hypertension with grade 1 hypertension category to with 2 degrees of hypertension, aged 40-60 years, men and women, muslim moderate tendency and have a high levels of stress. Stress scales from Tajudin (2011) was used to collect data. The study was a quasi-experimental design with pre-post control group design. Analysis of the data using different test techniques Mann-Whitney Nonparametik by looking Gained score in pre-test and post-test, which showed that the dhikr effectively lower stress relaxation in patients with essential hypertension Z =-2722 p = 0.006 (p <0, 05). The results of this study showed that the dhikr relaxation has a significant effect on the level of stress in patients with essential hypertension. Qualitatively found several factors that can affect the level of stress in patients with essential hypertension, namely economic and employment problems, family problems, problems of diet, smoking habits, physical complaints and psychological accompanying high blood pressure, as well as concerns over the impact of high blood pressure.
