Abstract
Spain ranks first among European countries in terms of the number of cycles of assisted reproductive techniques and third worldwide after the United States and Japan. Regarding the specific type of treatment, it holds the first place in Europe in terms of oocyte donation. However, despite the potential that Spain represents in the reproductive industry and especially in the donation of gametes, the viewpoints of the donors, the recipient families and the offspring are barely known. The objective of this article is to review the scarce literature existing in Spain on the protagonists of a phenomenon whose volume has reached remarkable figures already, and contrast it with the international body of literature, which is much more extensive.
