Abstract

A cow that was incorrectly identified as pregnant was "dried-up" conventionally about 60 days before her expected date of parturition. It was noted that the cow was not pregnant at all, although her udder was fully induced into involution. Histological examination of the mammary gland revealed that the milk glands underwent stage II involution and the udder assumed the appearance of that of a virgin cow.
