Abstract

The spatial structure of a given country can be investigated by various methods. In this paper the data of National Origin-Destination Travel Survey (ODTS) is used supplemented by other source of data for passenger rail journeys and the National Census. It also takes into account the outcomes of new National Transport Strategy. The O-D travel data are used in comparison with the available regional statistics obtained from Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH). The intensity of traffic flows are being analysed in correlation with the geographical distance and the regional statistics concerning economy, demography and social data using regression models.
