Abstract

The oral literature of the Serawai tribe includes pantun or Serawai language called junglean, including rhymes of advice, allusions, and satire. The Sekujang pantun text contains various meanings in life. Among them, the first Pantun states that life is often filled with various requests and hopes. The second poem teaches to appreciate the process of life, from joy to challenges, to maturity and change. The third poem underlines the unpredictable nature of life, emphasizing the readiness to accept everything wisely. The fourth pantun highlights the importance of giving appreciation and kind attitudes without expecting anything in return. The fifth poem describes the complexity of choices in life. The sixth poem teaches about honesty, loyalty and courage. The seventh poem emphasizes the importance of hard work, patience, and hope. The eighth pantun promotes an attitude of generosity and sharing. The ninth poem reminds us to be kind to everyone without expecting the same in return. The tenth rhyme suggests appreciating opportunities, enjoying the beauty of life, while realizing the reality that not all desires can be fulfilled. The Sekujang tradition shows how oral literature is effective in conveying important messages, strengthening social and cultural ties, and teaching moral values in social.
