Abstract

... maps of cyberspace are almost as rare as 16th century portalans. [Cyberspace] explorers practice their trade without maps. ... Few among this frontier fraternity have both the navigational and drafting skills of a Ferdinand Magellan or a James Cook. Even for those that do, the challenge of mapping cyberspace is in some ways more formidable than that faced by the sea captains of the past.
