Abstract

This article resulted from an exploratory study that aimed to put out under consideration themes like fear and loneliness in the liquid-modern society. In this regard it took as object the unusual immaterial work called "Friends for Rent" ("Amigos de Aluguel"), which was visible in the electronic media from 2009. The references of analysis emerged from sites allusive to the offered work which aims to meet individuals who feel the weight of fear and loneliness in everyday life. Authors such as Zygmunt Bauman, Richard Sennett and Vincent de Gaulejac, in particular, were important to support the understanding of the results since they indicate that the immaterial labor called "Friends for Rent" as a way of producing life-styles or modes of existence, and an indicator of fear and loneliness in modern liquid society just for its effectiveness, even if temporary, masking the experience of both.
