Abstract

In the previous chapters, the nonlinear equations of motion of an aircraft have been derived and thoroughly analyzed. In this this chapter, we present several control techniques that are commonly applied in the design of flight controls. Specifically, the proportional-integral-derivative control scheme, the linear-quadratic regulator, the optimal state-feedback H∞ control, and the adaptive control are discussed in detail. These techniques are illustrated through several meaningful numerical examples.
