Abstract

Cartilage biochemistry and cell biology is presented in context with osteoarthritis and cartilage regeneration and repair. Success in current efforts towards cell-based orthopaedic treatment options in cases of cartilage trauma and early stages of osteoarthritic degeneration will strictly depend on strategies that rely on known mechanisms of a chondrocyte's regulation. © 2008.
