Abstract

The article comments on the advantages and shortcomings of private equity funds. Private equity funding offers an option for businesses to finance their operations and for entrepreneurs to raise funds to market their innovations. Critics cite the public lack of disclosure and transparency of private equity and hedge funds and call for their regulation or outright ban. The views of governance expert Mervyn E. King about private equity funds are also highlighted.
