Abstract

Click In the background of global financial crisis and abnormal climate, low-carbon economy has become an optimal choice for the sustainable development of all countries. The biomass based power generation industry is an important way of developing low-carbon economy as well as a way of improving the energy structure of China. As a renewable energy, biomass power has a rapid growth in the last few decades in China. This industry faces opportunities as well as challenges for development. Using SWOT analysis method, this paper reviews and assesses the factors of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of biomass power generation industry of China. Meanwhile, according to the weaknesses and threats of this industry, it comes up with corresponding suggestions for future work, substantial work is still required for China to catch up with developed countries. Finally, study indicated that the usage of biomass to generate power has great potential for development in China.
