Abstract

The purpose of this article is to test whether Protestant ethics has effect on the behavior of Brazilians in two areas: (i) the labor market and entrepreneurship, and (ii) family structure. The microdata from the 2010 Brazilian demographic census were used. The census presents a complex sampling plan, so three different estimation methods are applied to complex samples. The results showed that the treatment of Protestantism had a significant effect on the outcome variables in the sense proposed by Max Weber.
