Abstract

Virginia NeuroCare, Inc. in Charlottesville, Virginia provides a real home residence, community- embedded brain injury rehabilitation program, with comprehensive evaluation, a full multidisciplinary outpatient therapy center, vocational training, individual and family therapy, and innovative community re-entry services for military active duty, dependents of active duty service members, and veteran with brain injury. Virginia NeuroCare is unique in its post-acute vocational training and work reintegration program which has cooperative arrangements with more than 20 businesses and governmental agencies within the Charlottesville community, where patients can gain practical job skills for possible return to duty or successful reintegration into their home communities. Military vocational placements for those planning to return to duty include the Judge Advocate General (JAG) School at the University of Virginia and the National Ground Intelligence Agency. Virginia NeuroCare is a national leader in developing treatment modules for community reintegration and evolving use of technology aides. The experienced medical professionals, rehabilitation team, and consulting and support staff, which is fully integrated into the real-life residence and work environments, promote optimal post-acute recovery.Virginia NeuroCare programs focus on skill acquisition as a foundation of independent living, community engagement and work re-entry. Treatment occurs in our home residence, at the therapy center, and in ‘real word’ environments to facilitate transfer of learning and optimize life potential. Virginia NeuroCare addresses real-life goals in home, community, and school or vocational settings, and our trans-disciplinary team of rehabilitation professionals works in partnership with each program participant to enable self-efficacy and independence in rebuilding a fulfilling life after an injury.
