Abstract

This chapter is a comprehensive overview of fluorine-containing polymers, their chemistry, structures, their nature, industrial manufacture of monomers, polymerization methods, and fundamental properties of all currently available thermoplastic fluoropolymers. This overview also includes typical processing methods used in the industry, types of commercial products, and major industrial applications. Additional subjects are: safety and hygiene, recycling of fluoropolymers, and current developments as well as current trends.
