Abstract

Dissection of the food pump of Pelocoris femoratus P. B. shows that it posesses a sclerotized armature similar to that found in Notonecta and Hesperocorixa. A description is presented with illustrations. Comparisons of this pump with those of Notonecta and Hesperocorlxa tend to support the belief that Pelocoris may share a recent common ancestry with the Notonectidae and the Corixidae. || ABSTRACT AUTHORS: E.
