Climate literacy is crucial for future low-carbon living. A key question is: who should be educated in the basis of climate science and what level of knowledge is appropriate for different ages of pupils? We designed a three years course for upper primary school in order to improve the climate literacy of the population. We have performed a three year testing of the improved curriculum at the pilot upper primary school. The curriculum was designed for grades 7 to 9 of the Czech educational system and can be modified for other countries. © 2009 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
