Abstract

The activation process for the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) involves formation of an asymmetric dimer of the tyrosine kinase domains. Jura et al. (2009) in this issue and Brewer et al. (2009) in Molecular Cell now demonstrate that the juxtamembrane region of EGFR plays a crucial role in stabilizing this dimer. © 2009 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
