Abstract

Cells lacking a functional tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) heterodimer are sensitized to glucose starvation-induced death. In this issue of Molecular Cell, Choo et al. (2010) report that reducing energy consumption allows these cells to survive on glutamine as an alternative energy source. © 2010 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.
