Abstract

Various members of the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily are known to modulate the release of insulin from pancreatic β cells. Rosengren and colleagues have recently provided convincing evidence for a role of increased expression of the α2A-adrenoceptor in β cells in the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes. © 2010 Elsevier Inc.
