Abstract

Existing approaches to the modelling of biological effluent systems generally rely on the well established Monod growth rate equation or its variants. This paper presents a new approach to modelling the biodegradation system without relying on Monod, but simply accounting direct for the biological processes which are generally perceived as of primary importance (e.g. viability, enzymic competence etc.). The new model is successfully compared with experimental results from a batch system. © 1986.
