"Governments worldwide need to invest in the immense potential of injury prevention programmes, that will benefit individuals and families and also the economy by reducing the productivity impact, for example, of road crashes in young men of working age", she says. After studying optometry at the University of New South Wales (NSW), Sydney, she headed to Northern Territory and worked for the government's eye health and trachoma programmes, where she helped establish services for remote communities.
