Abstract

A new study shows that hairs on the flight membranes of bats act as airflow sensors. Neurons in the brain that are sensitive to touch respond to stimulation of the hairs, and removal of the hairs compromises flight performance. © 2011 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
