Abstract

Numerical identifiers are present on many products and are used for quality assurance, product tracking, and authentication. These numbers may be intentionally to obscure the relationship between the object and criminal activity; they also may be lost through accident or environmental conditions. The restoration of these numbers can be achieved in many cases, whether the substrate is metal or plastic.
