The paper deals with modeling and simulation of the Shape Memory Alloy (SMA) actuator for mechatronic systems. The thermal actuator made of Nickel-Titanium (NiTi) wire and new active clamp are heated by electric resistance heating and naturally air-cooled. The paper addresses FEM electro thermal simulation of NiTi actuator with special shape of clamp with active heating and shows design of new connection with improved thermal features. © 2012 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
