SOME NEW APPROACHES FOR DESIGNING CELLULAR MANUFACTURING SYSTEMS

Abstract

Several techniques for designing cellular manufacturing systems can befound in the literature on group technology. Some of these techniquesare based on mathematical programming and the others are heuristicmethods. Most methods based on mathematical programming use a singleobjective. Also, the part routings are fixed. In this paper approacheswith multiple objectives and alternative routings are discussed.Example problems are solved.
