Stability of swirl axisymmetric incompressible flow

A new method of solution of the stability problem for swirl flow of a viscous incompressible liquid is developed. The method is based on the expansion of required functions into power series of radial coordinate and allows to avoid numerical integration of the system of differential equations with a singular point. As an example the stability of Poiseuille flow in a rotating pipe is considered. Calculations by new method agree well with known numerical integration result. © 2013 The Authors.
