Abstract

Bayannur is one of the districts lying in the western area of Inner Mongolia whose water resources are extremely deficient. Lack of water resources have become the bottleneck of the place economic sustainable development. So Bayannur diverts water from the Yellow River to supply water shortage every year. How to allocate this water reasonably have become the key point to improve the current situation. However, before reasonable allocation, we should forecast the total water requirement accurately. In this paper, we propose two solutions to the forecasting of Bayannur's total water requirement via support vector regression and time series analysis. © 2014 Published by Elsevier B.V.
