This paper reports a smart system dedicated to monitor surface quality of industrial components. Special attention is put on two challenging aspects: wireless energy and data transmission and electronics protection in an industrial harsh environment. Two materials and designs for the packaging are presented for two different cases. One based on a photo-curable resin and manufactured by rapid prototyping. The other, based on a wearing resistant polymer mechanized by a micromilling-machine. Both designs are supplied by inductive coupling, which uses the same coils for both energy supply and data transmission. The presented smart solution is suitable for the location of a variety of transducers to monitor parts of a machine which are difficult to access even when working.
