Hi,
Is it appropriate for the names of three authors to appear in in-text citation instead of two names followed by "et al". If not appropriate, can you please give me an idea how to edit it.

Many thanks,
Jude.
Emma Turner
Emma Turner Hi Jude,

The number of authors preceding et al is determined by the style that you use. If you are using one of the two styles that I recommended yesterday (Cranfield University - numeric or Harvard cite them right 9th ed), the number of authors appearing before the et al is correct for that style, so I would recommend sticking with it and not get...

There is currently an issue using Mendeley Cite-O-Matic and Word. Mendeley hope to resolve it this week, but in the meantime, if you get a "Please select the document you wish to cite" error message, advice is available here http://support.mendeley.com/customer/portal/articles/2662862.

Hi,
I recently swap from windows to MAC and i'm experiencing some issues with the Word Plug-in, it shows me this "Compile error in hidden module: MendeleyLib".
Any idea how to fix it?? I tried to uninstall and install again but not luck.
Regards
Emma Turner
Emma Turner Sorry for the delay in responding to you - I have been on annual leave. I searched the Mendeley Support portal and found the following information, which I hope will fix your issue. Copy and paste the URL into your browser:

Hi , ALL,
How Do I include the DOI number in my referencse list.?
Mendely dose not include it, even though it is avaiable.
regards
Emma Turner
Emma Turner Hi Aws, you can add the DOI in the URL box. Try that, it should work. Let me know if you are still having problems. Use the format http://dx.doi.org/10.2514/1.C032776. Emma.

Hi Emma, I've added a few templated CU theses and Mendeley has not captured any of the document data correctly, everytime. Does this happen for you? It's fine for many other docs. Thanks
Emma Turner
Emma Turner Hi John, this is because currently our thesis PDFs do not contain any metadata so Mendeley struggles to pick up the bibliographic information from them. I have suggested to the library management that we start adding metadata to PDFs (or possibly the students add their own!) and we are currently looking into it. It is unlikely though that we coul...

John Thrower
John Thrower Hi again Emma, It seems Mendeley does not use metadata and their support site gives little away about setting the doc for importing. It seems a shame that we cannot easily close this loop.

Hi Emma.
I checked on our intranet that can get an extra storage space on Mendeley. Already change my email in the settings to my Cranfield one but not sure if I need to do anything else as the storage space has not increased. Can you help? Thank you
Diogo gomes
Diogo gomes She was but the still with the same issue. I used the link Clare sent me but it only sends me to the newsfeed and the account does not get updated.

Diogo gomes Thank you for this. If it is not possible no worries. It is just that it would be great to get the extra storage. I am currently at 2.6 GB of 2 GB. available space...

You can print annotations and notes that you have made within the Mendeley PDF reader by opening the PDF in Mendeley Desktop, and clicking File>Export PDF with annotations in the program window. The saved files will contain the annotations made in Mendeley. Any annotations and notes that you make are made to the copy of the PDF within Mendeley, not the original document.

Due to the 2GB allocation can we have multiple account due to the mammoth amount of workload i am carrying?
Emma Turner
Emma Turner Hi Patrick - I've just resent you the email which contains a link to upgrade your account to 5GB storage - just ensure that you are using your Cranfield email address for your Mendeley account then click on the link to upgrade.

Hello @Emma Please have you been able to get a feedback on METADATA or should i carry on writing. Can it be effected at the end of writing or it must start with it at the begining?
Emma Turner
Emma Turner Hi Patrick - I'm not sure what you mean - can you pop in to the Library sometime?

The Harvard - Cranfield University style is not working properly at the moment. Until we can get this fixed we suggest that you use the Harvard - Cite Them Right 9th edition.
Emma Turner
I have discovered that if you have a reference in your Mendeley library that has missing information you can right click on it. Then choose mark as>needs review. You will then have the option to search the Mendeley catalogue and complete some of the missing fields automatically.

Happy new year! Did you know that you can create a back up of your Mendeley database? Within Mendeley Desktop choose 'help', then 'create backup'.

Brighton Chunga Thanks for the information Emma

Emma Turner
Emma Turner Hi Abdul, what you do is go into Mendeley, choose 'help' then choose 'restore backup'. You'll see a selection of the dates when you backed up your database, so choose the date that you want to restore it to....hope this helps!
Emma.

Abdul ABUSHALLA
Abdul ABUSHALLA Ok it is clear now, so the selection after help should be "Restore Backup" as it was mentioned in the main post above 'create backup'.

Did you know that you can print out your annotations and notes within Mendeley Desktop? Do this by opening the PDF within the Desktop, click File, then Export PDF with annotations. The saved files will contain the annotations made in Mendeley.

Do you ever get an 'SSL handshake failed' error message when trying to view your PDF files within Mendeley? It's frustrating, but very easy to fix! Here are the steps you need to follow:

1. Within Mendeley Desktop, click ctrl+shift+D.
2. Go to the 'settings' tab.
3. Set 'General_IgnoreSsIErrors' to 'True'.
4. Restart Mendeley Desktop.

Good luck!
Emma.

As Mary Betts-Gray and myself have successfully completed the Mendeley Certification Program for Librarians you can sign up for a free enhanced account if you are a PhD student or member of staff of Cranfield University.

You need to do this before the end of 2015 and make sure that you change the email address associated with your Mendeley account to your Cranfield one first. Go here www.mendeley.com/promo/CU-10/ to upgrade.

You will get an increase in:
• personal library size, from 2 GB to 5 GB
• group storage, from 100 MB to 20 GB
• private group size, from 3 to 25 members
• the number of private groups, from one to unlimited

Bear in mind that if Mary and I fail the next part of the program your upgraded account will be inactivated - but be assured we will do our best not to let this happen!
