779-On the treatment of the loosening of endoprostheses by means of pulsing electromagnetic fields

Abstract

PMF therapy was performed in more than 1000 patients with loosened artificial hip joints. 334 patients with 348 arthroplasties were treated within a controlled study. In more than 65% of the patients further surgery could be avoided within a follow-up of 10 years. Normally the treatment takes 16 weeks. Indications must be limited to patients at an early stage of aseptic loosening. © 1985.
