It is found that the Cl3CO2-Cl-and ReO4-Cl-(and presumably the ClO4-Cl-) Dowex 1 anion-exchange resin systems show no change or only a moderate increase in KB Clwith increasing Cl-mole fraction. This is in contradiction to a previous study with Dowex 2 resin that showed a very marked decrease in KB Cl. Thus, these systems show the same behavior as other univalent anion exchange systems, and there is no need to invoke a special ion-pair cluster mechanism. © 1974.
