Abstract

Temperature compensating elastic Elinvar-alloys are the base for components in oscillating systems of the precision instrument industry. It is reported on the relationship of the ΔE-effect with ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic ordering. A precipitation hardened antiferromagnetic Fe-Mn-Ni-Cr-Be alloy with Elinvar properties and corrosion resistance was developed. The results of magnetic measurements were discussed in connection with the thermoelastic behaviour of these alloys and with their magnetic and crystallographic structure. © 1989.
