Recombinant DNA clones, containing highly repetitive DNA sequences, have been isolated from a Leishmania donovani genomic DNA library prepared in the replacement vector λgt·WES·λB. Two clones, probably telomeric in location, have been characterised and show a restriction fragment size polymorphism. Evidence is presented which suggests that L. donovani is diploid for this cloned genomic locus. © 1989.
