Abstract

A polemic in response to Chen et al. (2005, Int J Hydrogen Energy, 30, 1063-1070) is given. Lee et al. pointed out that the conclusion drawn by Chen et al. in their article is not reliable because the measured fermn. products did not close the electron-equiv. mass balance and also were inconsistent among the expts. It is infeasible to conclude anything about optimization of H2 prodn. from expts. whose electron balances are so incomplete and inconsistent. Lee et al. emphasizes the importance of establishing electron balance in research addressing biohydrogen prodn. [on SciFinder (R)]
