Abstract

A series of novel mono- and di-terpyridine derivatives with purinyl and pyrimidyl group were obtained from the reaction of 4′-p-bromomethylphenyl-2,2′:6,2″-terpyridine with 6-mercaptopurine, 2,6-dimercaptopurine and thymine, respectively. The active hydrogens on these alkaloids could be abstracted stepwise using different bases, which made the addition controllable. © 2008 Qin Jiang.
