We consider the dissociation of an intermediate energy 11Li nucleus interacting with a very heavy target. Using a semiclassical approximation for the coupled-channels problem, we calculate the dissociation energy spectrum and the relative velocity distribution (V9Li - V2n) along the beam axis. The dissociation energy spectrum is well reproduced. The velocity distribution at backward relative velocities is also fairly well described, but the shift towards forward velocities turns out to be considerably smaller than in the data. This could suggest that higher order terms in the continuum-continuum coupling may be important. © 1993.
