To aid an understanding of the creep characteristic of advanced multi-phase alloys, the elevated temperature deformation response of simple two phase alloy systems needs to be fully understood. The creep behavior of these alloys is dependent on the creep properties of each phase, the interfacial interactions between each phase and on the volume fraction and morphology of each phase. The creep response of 60/40 brass over a range of stresses and temperatures with a view to gaining a further understanding of the creep mechanisms operating was investigated and what effect this in turn has on the rate at which creep occurs was presented.
