Single crystal X-Ray investigations was performed on various samples of the low-temperature modification of the rhombohedral solid solutions Bi1-xMxO(3-x) 2 (M = Ca, Sr, Ba). The results suggest existence of conduction planes, that was confirmed by means of conductivity measurements performed on single crystals. A possible mechanism for the conduction of the high-temperature modification is suggested, that implies the preservation of the cation network. The occurence of a transition, for the calcium solid solution, from the rhombohedral structure to a fluorite-type structure is in agreement with this hypothesis. © 1981.
