Abstract

This chapter discusses dynamic interpretation and determination of hydraulic conductivity in homogeneous loose clastic sediments. In every case, where the purpose is to describe a special type of movement and to discover the interrelationships of physical processes for the mechanically correct (so-called deterministic) characterization of the motion, the detailed investigation of the acting forces is necessarily the first step. There are accelerating and retarding forces forming a balanced system in the case of steady movement. Distinguishing the various types of movement so that in each group the same forces have a dominating role, the limits of the validity zone can be determined, outside of which the motion is affected by other forces. The equilibrium of the accelerating and retarding forces gives an equation in each zone, based on which, the correct form of the movement equation can be constructed and even some numerical factors of the latter can be calculated. © 1981, Akadémiai Kiadá, Budapest
