Abstract

The easy direction of magnetization in gadolinium has been found to be situated at normal pressure in the basal plane in the temperature interval between 100 K (T1) and 250 K (T2). The two transition temperature T1 and T2 are strongly pressure dependent: ∂T1 ∂p ≅ -10K/kbar and ∂T2 ∂p ≅ -6K/kbar. © 1977.
